Vendors who do not have anyone in their booth, during expo times – I see this at all shows, regardless of the product or market; but at e-learning/training shows you see it a lot OR you see them eating in their booth. I hear the same horror stories from other training management folks too.

Learning management systems didn’t die. Corporate LMSs were invented almost 30 years ago to manage and report on the training and compliance of their employees and contractors. Much of the investment was upfront and only the largest companies or companies with the most compliance risk exposure could afford an LMS.

A lot of great products out there this year, new updates and latest versions; new companies, new services and just some real innovation. I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). These standout to me. Categories. Otherwise, you get bleech, IMO.

In the webinar, I brought up how LMS vendors were themselves perpetuating the myth of the bad things of social media (which is a necessary component of social learning), so, rather than identify the facts and data to potential clients who are concerned about social media and thus social learning, they instead do not include it in their system.

The survey asks demographic and company questions of all the participants so that you know things like the industry, size of company, number of learners, their role, etc. But it's not really an enterprise LMS and has some very serious deficiencies when it comes to many of the needs of corporate training departements.
