Reflections on DevLearn 2014
Spark Your Interest
NOVEMBER 12, 2014
Having returned from my first ever DevLearn, it seemed appropriate to capture some rambling reflections and share them. As As with any large conference there are some ups and downs, and for those of you considering attending a DevLearn in the future, here are a few of my main take-aways (and pieces of advice for the future). It also meant the entire conference was more social than it would have been without that existing network. My PLN would also connect me to their network, so I was quickly introduced to many people at the conference. learning DevLearn
eLearning Conferences 2013
NOVEMBER 13, 2012

OCTOBER 24, 2014
As usual, I will be at DevLearn (in Las Vegas) this next week, and welcome meeting up with you there. On Wednesday at 2:45, I’ll be part of a panel on mlearning with my fellow mLearnCon advisory board members Robert Gadd, Sarah Gilbert, and Chad Udell, chaired by conference program director David Kelly. DevLearn is probably my favorite conference of the year: learning focused, technologically advanced, well organized, and with the right people. If you can’t make it this year, you might want to put it on your calendar for another! There is a lot going on.
DevLearn evaluation: The gap is widening: We are in a crisis!
Challenge to Learn
OCTOBER 31, 2014
DevLearn 2014 is over. I’m sitting in the pool area of the Bellaggio hotel writing this evaluation. In a way this is an analogy for my experience at DevLearn and the state of our industry. During DevLearn I found that there is a huge gap between the presenters and the audience. I did notice that gap at other conferences as well, but in my opinion that gap is widening.
#DevLearn 14 Reflections
NOVEMBER 5, 2014
This past week I was at the always great DevLearn conference, the biggest and arguably best yet. The fact that the Guild is holding the Learning Ecosystem conference and their release of a new and quite good white paper by Marc Rosenberg and Steve Foreman are further evidence that awareness is growing. If you want to get your mind around the forefront of learning technology, at least in the organizational space, DevLearn is the place to be. Yet I attended keynotes and sessions, as well as presenting, and hobnobbed with folks both familiar and new.
Inspiration at DevLearn 2014: From Andrea May (Dashe & Thomson)
NOVEMBER 17, 2014
A first time experience to a large conference can be intimidating or exhilarating, sweat-inducing or electrifying (or maybe all of the above!). In this next segment of the DevLearn 2014 reflections – Learning Rebel, Andrea May of Dashe & Thomson, gives us a great peek inside her world of being a first time DevLearn attendee. So what is a conference attendee to do?
Off to DevLearn 2015
SEPTEMBER 28, 2015
Excited to be headed to DevLearn with a group of 9 students from our graduate program. It is so much fun to bring people new to the field to the DevLearn Conference. So if you have a chance, stop me and the students from Bloomsburg University and say “HI” they have worked hard to attend the conference and have some wonderful results to show for it.
DevLearn 2014 – It’s a Wrap (and it’s all about community): Featuring Meg Bertapelle
NOVEMBER 19, 2014
This is the perfect round up of our DevLearn series. Last week #chat2LRN hosted a twitter chat based on the DevLearn/ Personal Learning Network experience. So today you are not only getting Meg’s view of the PLN experience but those of an entire twitter crowd! It seems as the reoccurring theme for DevLearn was about making connections – new ones and strengthening old ones.

xAPI Camp – DevLearn 2015 is ONE DAY AWAY
SEPTEMBER 28, 2015
The first xAPI Camp at DevLearn, the first of four events we’re putting on hosted by The eLearning Guild , is nigh upon us. Last year was the first year there was an official xAPI Track at DevLearn and, together, we are upping that ante again (…in Vegas). The eLearning Guild is a terrific host and partner in making xAPI Camp available to attendees as a pre-conference event. They don’t have a booth at DevLearn, but Nick Washburn, the Director of Riptide’s Learning Division, will be with us on Tuesday and you should definitely give him a high-five.

OCTOBER 29, 2015
Just back from DevLearn and still reeling under its effect, I thought it would be the perfect time to share my experience with everyone. Though team Raptivity has been a known face at DevLearn, it was my first visit, and my maiden chance to experience it live, and I must admit, I was bowled over. I was there with two other team members, for all three days of the conference.

DevLearn Day 1
OCTOBER 23, 2013
Well back to another expo conference installment – this time it is DevLearn Day 1. There seems to be a lot of vendors at DevLearn (and I saw it at ICE too) whose product is the anti-LMS. We used a minute of silence to clear our heads of the noise of overstimulation. Just Jay

NOVEMBER 6, 2011
I’m back home after a great DevLearn conference. Looking (and reading) back at the conference there are several things that stick out for me. This was my second Guild conference (been to Learning Solutions in March) and one thing that really struck me at both conferences is the atmosphere. Both guild conferences have the feeling of a gathering of peers. For easygenerator it was an important conference too. It was a great conference, very valuable from a business perspective and from the perspective as an e-Learning professional.
