Devlearn conference day one: an exhilarating day

Challenge to Learn

So we are off to an excellent start with DevLearn. As always at the first day of a guild conference it was an exhilarating day. I was able to attend some sessions and keynotes and talked to lot’s of people. Trends? I try to spot the emerging trends at conferences like this, for this conference there are two. So this conference is his last one. Great keynote.

Reflections on DevLearn 2014

Spark Your Interest

Having returned from my first ever DevLearn, it seemed appropriate to capture some rambling reflections and share them. As As with any large conference there are some ups and downs, and for those of you considering attending a DevLearn in the future, here are a few of my main take-aways (and pieces of advice for the future). It also meant the entire conference was more social than it would have been without that existing network. My PLN would also connect me to their network, so I was quickly introduced to many people at the conference. learning DevLearn

This keynote by Natalie Panek (she is a real rocket scientist, NASA Mission Systems Engineer, MDA Robotics and Automation Learning) will only be available for one week through the ELearning Guild's archive. She describes her journey on how she came to work for NASA (perseverance, keep on knocking on that door).

Attending Conferences a Must

Web Courseworks

I was inspired recently after reading Thom Singer’s blog post :  “Five Reasons You Should Attend A Conference.” ” It got me thinking about the importance of conference attendance on a personal level and a company level.  On a personal level, it is important for your team members to be aware of association conferences they should belong to and attend.

Inspiration at DevLearn 2014: From Andrea May (Dashe & Thomson)

A first time experience to a large conference can be intimidating or exhilarating, sweat-inducing or electrifying (or maybe all of the above!). In this next segment of the DevLearn 2014 reflections – Learning Rebel, Andrea May of Dashe & Thomson, gives us a great peek inside her world of being a first time DevLearn attendee. So what is a conference attendee to do?

#DevLearn Schedule

Clark Quinn

As usual, I will be at DevLearn (in Las Vegas) this next week, and welcome meeting up with you there. On Wednesday at 2:45, I’ll be part of a panel on mlearning with my fellow mLearnCon advisory board members Robert Gadd, Sarah Gilbert, and Chad Udell, chaired by conference program director David Kelly. DevLearn is probably my favorite conference of the year: learning focused, technologically advanced, well organized, and with the right people.  If you can’t make it this year, you might want to put it on your calendar for another! There is a lot going on.

DevLearn 2014 – It’s a Wrap (and it’s all about community): Featuring Meg Bertapelle

This is the perfect round up of our DevLearn series. DevLearn evaluation: The gap is widening: We are in a crisis!

Challenge to Learn

DevLearn 2014 is over. I’m sitting in the pool area of the Bellaggio hotel writing this evaluation. In a way this is an analogy for my experience at DevLearn and the state of our industry. During DevLearn I found that there is a huge gap between the presenters and the audience. I did notice that gap at other conferences as well, but in my opinion that gap is widening.

This post curates resources shared via the backchannel of the 2015 DevLearn Conference and Expo being held September 30 to October 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. #DevLearn 14 Reflections

Clark Quinn

This past week I was at the always great DevLearn conference, the biggest and arguably best yet. The fact that the Guild is holding the Learning Ecosystem conference and their release of a new and quite good white paper by Marc Rosenberg and Steve Foreman are further evidence that awareness is growing. If you want to get your mind around the forefront of learning technology, at least in the organizational space, DevLearn is the place to be. Yet I attended keynotes and sessions, as well as presenting, and hobnobbed with folks both familiar and new.

DevLearn Day 2

eLearning 24-7

Back for another exciting review of DevLearn’s Expo.  So what will you read today about? For example, there were several vendors making their debut – as in their solution – at DevLearn. A few of which were literally startups. Anyway, without further adieu – I name my DevLearn Product of the Show (drum roll or finger snaps please). DevLearn Day 1

eLearning 24-7

Well back to another expo conference installment – this time it is DevLearn Day 1.  There seems to be a lot of vendors at DevLearn (and I saw it at ICE too) whose product is the anti-LMS. I was there with two other team members, for all three days of the conference.
