Tomorrow I’m leaving for the DevLearn conference in Las Vegas. These conferences are always a great place to network and to meet people. There is an app with all the conference information. I will (try to) blog about the conference every day. The conference is in the Aria and we stay there too. After that I was ready for day 0 of the conference. We are all set for a great conference and expo. I arrived yesterday evening 18.30 local time after a 20 hour trip. It’s an incredible hotel/casino.

Tomorrow is the start of the Learning Solution conference, but for me it started today. The Ipad/Iphone app is now available and that is a great way to start the conference. At first hand it looks a bit complicated because it is not integrated into the guild website and app. All in all a good pre-start of the conference.

At the learning Solutions conference in Orlando I got in touch with LINGOs. Since three years LINGOs and the ELearning Guild organize the ‘ Global give back competition ‘ where e-Learning companies create courses (for free) and make them available to the ngo’s.

In Berlin I met with Christopher Benz (he is in charge of online events of the ELearning guild) and we spoke about the differences of an eLearning guild conference (like Learning Solutions and DevLearn) and the online Educa.

The pre conference day is almost over. This morning I registered for the conference and I got to meet some people from the guild that I worked with over the past few months, but never met in real live. And I received the conference bag with our logo on it, it looks great. After that I had an interview with Bill Brandon.

The actual start of the conference and what a day it turned out to be. At Guild conferences you have so-called Morning buzz sessions, they start at 07.15. It began early at 02.00. I woke up after just two hours of sleep (the jet lag hit me) and I was wide awake. And it paid off. I’m not a gambler at all.

Agile I kicked the day and the conference of with a morning buzz session. Serious I attended the serious elearning manifesto session. Ecosystem This year there is a second conference next to Learning solutions: Ecosystems 2014. I have the feeling that change is reaching eLearning. It is more on a strategic level.

Day 2 of the conference. Joe Ganci received a guild master award from the eLearning guild and rightfully so. I started the day with the keynote session, before the keynote some announcements were made. Great guy, always presenting, writing, reviewing and moderating. They help people who do well, do even better.

Conferences. Lately more and more conferences have an app and I love that. Especially the eLearning guild does a great Job. I haven’t seen an app in any of the European conferences (like online Educa Berlin or Learning Technologies in London), maybe I will even boycott them until they have one.

That’s one of things I really like about guild conferences. In fact I have to start on the day before the conference. There are 1300 participant at this conference and I think I spoke to a fair share of them. We ended up talking until quit late. I spoke today to dozens of them. Really inspiring.

They did a review of the conference results. They gave their findings, showed interviews with conference attendees and asked the people that attended the session. One with David Holcombe (president and CEO of the Elaerning guild) and Heidi Fisk (Executive director) about the possibility of an European Guild conference.
