Twitter has become a pretty great tool to help with socializing at conferences. There is also an interesting effect that people who are not attending still hear quite a bit about the conference and have some level of tangential participation. There's also a bit of risk as exemplified by - TechKnowledge09 - Another Conference that Missed the Social Opportunity.

Online Educa Berlin 2014 Conference Review #OEB14

eLearning 24-7

For those of uninitiated, Online Educa Berlin, is an e-learning conference geared towards higher education and with some corporate. As for myself, both sessions were packed (one was a pre-conference). It was better than many conferences, but as with Wi-Fi, you still had some drop spots. Has areas for video, webcasts (live and archived/recorded), streaming video, audio.

Is the conference dead?

Learning with e's

Last week we held the first Plymouth eLearning Conference committee meeting to plan the 2011 event. During the meeting some committee members expressed their anxiety about whether conferences were still viable in the current economic climate. There ensued a heated exchange about whether something like the Plymouth eLearning Conference actually had a future. I don't think so.

Video streaming brings events to a much wider audience

Clive on Learning

The Learning Pool Public Sector Learning Conference 2010, held last week in London, was an impressively-organised event that seems to have met with an enthusiastic response from the 150 or so paying attendees. By all traditional measures for face-to-face conferences, this was a success. But much more noteworthy was the virtual attendance of thousands of additional interested parties courtesy of the video streaming facility which the organisers provided. In the case of the eLN, it is the cost of providing the video streaming. Tags: streaming media

An activity stream is a mash-up of an individual’s or organization’s feeds. TV very much alive for learning professionals

Clive on Learning

Last night I tuned in to a live stream of the second episode of LearningNow TV , a monthly one-hour news magazine for learning professionals. It''s not a conference, not a webinar, not a magazine - it''s something new and refreshing. On Wednesday, on his Plan B blog , my old mate Donald Clark told us that TV is dying, and I believe him. But in some ways it is just changing form.

eLearning 24-7

Streaming to your Television. If there was ever a technology that is emerging and continues to do is – its streaming. I’m not talking about viewing online streaming video, I am talking about actually viewing video or whatever on your television. Take a look at the tabletop boxes that exist today in the space of streaming from the net to your television, and you shouldn’t be surprised on the players (no pun attended) that see this as the next big thing. Classrooms looked like a classroom or a conference room. It is understandable.sort of.
