St. John Fisher invites applications for the full-time, 12-month position of Educational Content Developer. The successful applicant will partner with Subject Matter Experts from across the campus on the development of continuing education, executive education, and non-credit learning experiences, as well as modules for traditional online programs. This position will consult on the design and development of learning experiences for external audiences, online courseware modules, self-paced learning experiences, live training events, and webinar-style offerings. The Educational Content Developer will also be the lead developer for all interactive online courseware modules to be made available through the College’s LMS platform.

Responsibilities

The Educational Content Developer, working in collaboration with faculty and administration, will be specifically responsible for the following:

  • (50-60%) Working as the lead content developer, alongside Subject Matter Experts, to support the College efforts related to continuing education, executive education, and professional development opportunities, including design and development of online courseware modules and consultation related to use of the Learning Management System.
  • (10-20%) Provide consultation, support, and content development expertise to faculty teaching traditional credit-bearing online course offerings, including the development of high-quality and interactive learning objects.
  • (10-20%) Act as a liaison between the Office of Information Technology, and the Center on the Learning Management System, focusing on both functionality of the platform to meet the needs of all stakeholders and the support of learners using the system.
  • (5-10%) Act as a liaison between Subject Matter Experts and the Marketing and Communication department on the marketing needs of external executive and continuing education opportunities.
  • (5-10%) Maintain a relationship with departments across the campus, specifically related to employer and alumni relations that may facilitate future executive and continuing education opportunities.
  • (5%) Maintaining a presence on campus as a technology contact.
  • (5%) Continuously monitoring and evaluating emerging technologies that may enhance the overall teaching and learning environment of the College. 
Qualifications

The successful candidate will be experienced using and managing course management and/or Learning Management Systems, web conferencing technology, have knowledge of HTML (5)/CSS, and be proficient in multimedia authoring tools, such as Articulate 360, Camtasia Studio, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Graphic design, animation, and multimedia skills are also preferred, as well as experience adding gamification elements within self-paced learning experiences.

The successful candidate will have experience creating design plans, storyboards, scripts, graphics, knowledge checks, and assessments.

The Educational Content Developer will be able to work effectively in teams in the roles of leader and supporter as appropriate and will be familiar with contemporary learning theory, best practices in Instructional Design, and usability standards.

Project Management experience related to instructional content development is also preferred.

The successful candidate will have experience delivering technical and non-technical training in both online and face-to-face formats.

The Educational Content Developer must have effective verbal and written communication skills and collaborative working philosophy.
