Questions About Implementing eLearning Answered

Implementing eLearning is a commendable step for corporate organizations. However, it is a step that requires careful planning in advance. It involves action plans, brainstorming sessions, investments, evaluations and countless decisions to be taken. Most of all, corporate organizations need to ask themselves several important questions and have suitable answers to those questions. In this article, we’ll discuss what those questions are and what the appropriate answers should be to them.

1. What Is Making You Transition From Traditional Classroom Training (Or Any Other Learning Methodology) To eLearning?

Although eLearning is initially more expensive than traditional classroom training, it can cater to a much larger number of employees (we’re talking about an audience which is geographically dispersed all over the world). eLearning also has countless other advantages over every other learning methodology currently used by corporate organizations for employee development, including the fact that it is learner-centered, it offers real-time access to learning, it can be personalized as per each individual learner catering to their distinct learning styles, and many others. Capitalizing on these advantages would be a wise choice and that is a choice my organization should make.

2. What Kind Of Skills Are You Looking For Your Employees To Develop?

eLearning, in general, is suited to corporate employees as it is a great choice to develop cognitive skills, such as knowledge, comprehension as well as the application of procedures. These cognitive skills are what make a difference between a good employee and an excellent employee. eLearning can also be used to develop soft skills like communication, teamwork, sales, negotiation, etc., which are also required by employees, although eLearning will have to be used with another learning method (perhaps traditional classroom training) in the form of blended learning to be fully effective. All in all, eLearning seems like the perfect learning methodology for all the skills our organization is looking for our employees to develop.

They seem fine with it. The ones who have read about what eLearning can do for them, as well as their organization, are the ones who are excited for it to be fully implemented, while the ones who don’t have much idea about eLearning have mixed feelings. Before we fully implement eLearning, we’ll be helping them understand what eLearning is, its history, current trends and what it means for them and the organization by taking a few classes on the subject. As this decision directly affects them, we’ll also be taking surveys to understand what each employee’s learning needs are and what they expect from this program. We need them to be fully informed and excited about what’s in store for them.

4. Who Will Implement And Develop The eLearning?

We already have a Learning and Development department that will oversee the whole implementation, including getting the specific equipment, software, and hardware, for development and delivery as well as setting it up. However, we may not have the resources to create an in-house team, which would mean hiring an individual Instructional Designer, graphic and media designer, User Interface designer, quality assurance manager, etc. Thus, we are going with an eLearning solutions provider that has a team of eLearning professionals who have been doing this for a long time. This will save a lot of effort as well as money.

5. How Will You Guarantee The Success Of Your eLearning Program?

We can’t. However, we’ve tried our best in curating content, deciding the learning outcomes, getting the latest technology, and embedding the types of activities and interactivities which would be effective in helping employees learn. We’ve put in a system that ensures proper practice, feedback, assessment, and evaluation. Considering all this, I think we’ll be fine.

I hope this FAQ answered all the questions corporate organizations might have before they decide to implement eLearning. A successful eLearning implementation can enhance the productivity of the organization. This will result in a higher ROI on training and better organizational efficiency. Here’s to a successful implementation of your eLearning program.
