Back when I first started developing e-learning courses, I used Macromedia's Authorware. Almost every course involved using Flash for interactive elements (animations, games, quizzes, simulations, video, etc.). No, I can skip the middle man and produce entire courses in Flash.

They are not stand alone e-learning tools, but together allow me the ability to create effective e-learning courses. Being able to add quizzes and publish SCORM/AICC compliant courses is a big plus too. DHTML authoring tool - My preference is OutStart Trainer (TrainerSoft). So, here are my top 10 e-learning tools.

Ideally when we launch course content from LMS we open it in new popup window, so that course gets its own desirable window size. If that’s the case, you just can’t run SCORM courses on them. We launch the course in a SCORM player which has SCORM implemented using JavaScript. User-Agent (Most widely used). x-wap-profile.

It is a glimpse not just into their development tool preferences, but it also provides some reflection into the approaches they take in creating courses. ToolBook authoring tool - this is the DHTML authoring tool used at my company, but prior to this I used TrainerSoft (now Outstart Trainer), which is my preference.

Of course, as mentioned above, I'd think about keeping the content you type as short and sweet as possible and then lead into the Captivate video with something along the lines of The following interactive topic lesson will allow you to perform these actions now. and choose DHTML > Create Drop-down Hotspot and Text.

High end microphone - It will come in very handy for adding audio to courses, plus it will look great on my desk. OutStart Trainer - I am currently using another DHTML editor in which I am not enthralled at all. m-Learning development tool that produces courses compatible with ALL mobile platforms. I wish this to end.

In my instructional design graduate program, UMBC , I took several courses that focused on development, but they really only scratched the surface. Graphics editing : There is a good chance you will need to create and/or edit graphics for your courses (e.g. Keep in mind some may be DHTML output, others create Flash SWFs.
