This is a shorter, rewritten and rebranded version of a custom, accessible quiz I recently developed for a client.

I developed the original quiz in Adobe Captivate 2017 (per the client’s requirements). I used advanced and shared actions along with variables and smart shapes to mimic the functionality of radio buttons and checkboxes with a custom look and feel.

I created this particular version of the quiz for my online portfolio using Adobe Captivate 2019.

In this version, I changed the questions to highlight some key features within Adobe Captivate that support accessible e-learning. I also provided a little information about the techniques I used to develop the course.

Is your project publishing to SCORM ? If so, could you show me a link to the project (*.cptx) file?

Hello Chandresh,

Great question! It’s something that I considered, but since it wasn’t a requirement I decided to build in limited randomization capability so that the submit buttons are set up so that the existing questions can be randomized, however, some further work would be needed to randomize the content of the actual questions themselves.

Great work! I particularly enjoyed the non-standard button experiments.

What do you mean by non-standard buttons?  You have 3 old types of buttons (text, transparent and image) and the more flexible shape buttons. Personally since shape buttons are available (since version 6 over 6 years ago) I almost never use the old buttons, except for quiz buttons where you still cannot use shape buttons which is a pitty!

Thanks for posting.  Is there a reason why you did not deactivate the big grey bottom border since you are not using any playbar? Small dsign tip.

Hello Lieve,

Thank you for the tip! I usually don’t remove it unless asked, because I think it looks nice .

Really,, that is strange. I would at least change it color to match the theme colors.  It takes up unnecessary space as well. Taste can be very different of course.

I like it that way.  Honestly, I just never thought of changing the color because the gray goes with most themes and clients either like it or want it removed. In this case, I think it goes quite well with this theme, and this is something I created for my own personal portfolio according to my own personal taste. However, I did try your suggestion and updated my work with a “matching” color to see what that would look like. I think I still prefer the gray.  So, I think we just do have very different tastes, and that’s OK.  The nice thing about Captivate is that allows for the flexibility not to conform to a single style or specific convention.  That’s the main point I have tried to illustrate with this work sample.

Nice work. I liked the graphic reveal (and the hide other functionality) on the pumps on question 8.

Hello Chris,

That is my favorite part of the quiz too. Thank you.
