When so many potential customers are seeing the advantages of open source, creating their own learning or VLE portals or seeing the value of various social media types and incorporating them into some type of social learning community, the “do nothing&# spin is well, a time warp into the past. The Best from the eLearning Learning Community

Create a sharing community. Wikis as classic example of collaborative tool. Gave an example of faculty handbook created with wiki (using MediaWiki). Wikis make it very clear who did what–always a problem with group work for grading. Wikis have more work application for students too. Blogs.
We’ve recently seen LMSs shift to include more functionality, such as wikis, blogs, social networking, etc. If I want a great wiki platform, I’m going to download MediaWiki or DokuWiki (also free and they have huge support communities). They complain that their LMS has a terrible interface that is nearly unusable.
Friday, July 06, 2007 I Heart My Wiki I have finally thrown myself into the wiki waters. We installed MediaWiki on our local server a couple of weeks ago and Ive been using it to record everything I can for my e-Learning strategy project. The kickoff meeting agenda and notes went in the wiki. Just me with my wiki love.
Last week my chances of getting a Wiki installed behind the firewall were looking terrible. actually refocused on hosted solutions because the notion of installing MediaWiki behind the firewall was shot out of the water at first. So, what are the keys to success in a Wiki implementation? Where do I begin?
The ILT classes will conclude by introducing the learners to a job aid in the form of a Wiki. Rather than developing a standard technical manual with detailed instructions I have created a Wiki using MediaWiki. The Wiki is packed with step by step instructions covering everything in the system.
This post highlights some of the wins and losses I have had in creating continuous learning experiences. In an effort to provide a continuous learning experience I implemented a Wiki using MediaWiki. Myself and a few others filled the Wiki with detailed instructions covering every procedure the software is used for.

Introduction to Social Media --This webinar and wiki resource page gives an overview of key social media tools and how they are being used in workforce development and with young people, especially around school and careers. Beth Kanter's listening literacy wiki was a great resource for this, too. certain irony in that, I suppose, too.
For details on how to create a podcast, see How to Create Your Own Podcast on About.com. The forward thinking folks at Dimdim created an application that is completely in the cloud. Users can create and join groups, connect with friends, display a profile, blog and microblog (similar to Twitter). Category: Wikis.
The learning industry has spent much time and effort creating systems that allow developers to create eLearning "courses" that can be "taken" OFFLINE and then critical evaluation information is transferred back to the LMS when the system is back ONLINE. Now you can take that corporate wiki with you on your harddrive. Cool right?
