Is your PLE Deliberate? By this i mean has your PLE just grown organically by adding and experimenting with different services or have you deliberately organised and designed your PLE to suit your learning Purpose. What is the Purpose of your PLE? Tags: PLE | LEARNING WITH E'S JULY 11, 2010 Anatomy of a PLE Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) do exactly what they say on the can - they are personal to each individual, created by them, owned by them, used by them within their lifelong learning. My personal view is that students own and create their PLE but that the iMLE also has something to offer them, even though it is highly problematic in its current form. Web 2.0 | | | | | | | LEARNING TECHNOLOGY LEARNING OCTOBER 16, 2009 Personal Learning Environments - Concept not Tool The educational response to the concept of Personal Learning Environment has been to try and create a tool and present it as a ready made Personal Learning Environment. So they create walled, narrow tools (usually something like an e-portfolio system) and pass it off as a Personal Learning Environment. Amongst this resource I found the following useful quote: "Another approach is to consider the PLE not as a specific tool, but rather as a concept, a way of organizing a variety of Web 2.0 Tags: PLE Well, this misses the point. technologies. | LEARNING WITH E'S JULY 12, 2010 Physiology of a PLE Yesterday I posted my views on what I think are the essential components of a Personal Learning Environment - the Anatomy of the PLE. Such key functions of the PLE (Personal Web Tools component) can be managed through a number of tools, and learners each have their individual preferences, all of which ensures that each PLE will be unique to that individual learner. | LEARNING WITH E'S MARCH 22, 2010 PLE vs VLE Primary education students, Adam Skill, Danny Houton and James Carhart, have created a most excellent video to accompany their paper for the Plymouth e-Learning Conference next month. Here's the abstract: The Personal Learning Environment (PLE) is a concept that describes how learners create and sustain their study through individualised tools and resources. and Liber, O. | IGNATIA WEBS OCTOBER 25, 2011 Steven Verjans shows a structured #PLE at #studiedagVlhora Personal Learning Environments (PLE) have been hot news for a couple of years now. PLE will enable you to work more focused, keep an overview of all the information that comprises your knowledge and be able to share with others whenever needed. My PLE is not very well structured to say the least, in fact chaos is my middle name when it comes to PLE. | | | | | | | | | -

VIPLAV BAXI MEANDERINGS | SATURDAY, JULY 24, 2010 PLE Architecture Rita Kop mentions Stephen Downes’ charter/vision for a PLE extending on from a discussion of critical literacies and the eXtended Web, building on Steve Wheeler’s Web 3.0 , George Siemens’ xWeb and Stephen’s Web X , to which I would add some of my own thoughts from a couple of years ago on Learning X.0 : The components that were formulated in Stephen Downes’ vision for a PLE at the start of the PLE project of the National Research Council of Canada are the following: 1. personal profiler that would collect and store personal information. LEARNING WITH E'S | SATURDAY, JULY 10, 2010 PLE bargaining Those attending the PLE Conference found themselves quickly immersed in discussion, dialogue and debate over the nature and ethos of the personal learning environment. The Twitter stream alone went wild, and by midday on the second day there had been over 5000 messages inserted into the # PLE-BCN hashtag stream. We discussed issues such as the definition of a PLE, the tensions existing where binary representations of institutions vs individual provision of web tools is used, and the future of learning in the context of personalised pedagogies. We couldn't agree. MORE >> -
PLE construction, instructors, & converting Instructor led learning to eLearning In my last post I talked about the learning environments (LEs) we as developers create for students, and the Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) students create to situate themselves so that they can master the course objectives. They they create course LEs based on this information. think a good instructor tries to knock down any barriers a student has as low as they can go so the student can construct their own PLE and master the learning objectives. Instructional designers provide course prerequisites and course objectives. Guess what takes precedence.). MORE >> -
