This raises a number of tensions around creativity, intellectual property and copyright. Creative Commons (CC) is a copyright management system that goes a long way to addressing these issues. Teachers in all education sectors trade in knowledge and content. This is why I'm opposed to closed journals.

Fractal education

The Mandelbrot set pictured here is one such fractal , and I sometimes use it in my talks to illustrate a key educational point. And some education is similar in nature. However, if that is all that occurs, and the students go away knowing exactly what the teacher knows, and nothing more, then I believe education has failed.
