I am a huge fan of demos – whether they be face to face or via the internet. What I am not a fan of, are the demos who are shown in a vanilla style.

Thus, if a vendor does a Q/A angle – hence the answer engine, it will be via one of the LLMs – and then they provide that in their details/comments area.

Price Comparison I’m always surprised on how many vendors require you to sign an NDA, before they provide you, their pricing. Again, the people who provide the pricing of their system, in some hush-hush manner, that you would rather go to the dentist for a root canal, are the same ones, who price compare on whatever items.

A good vendor will take that information and apply it to your demo (you want one), inquire for additional questions if needed – after they have had time to review it – post-call; and most importantly as a cornerstone to your pricing. The other (and very important part) is providing a wealth of data with drill-down instant clicking off each screen, heat maps or similar with comparison data at your finger tips and I’d note, that that last statement of comparison data – to see if A is due to B, is very important. Help angles, with this one, where you can ask Lucy and it will provide the responses; assume that the learner recognizes they need help with using the system. I could go on, but they, and Wal-Mart, Tesco and many others, all provide goods, but they also provide. It is as though, only they (LXP) can provide such an experience and that any other type of learning system doesn’t. There are LMS vendors who offer resources via 3rd party providers, just as the LXPs offer.

Vendors are reporting an increase in phone calls from folks and the questions they are asking seem to be back to the fast turnaround aspect, rather than asking for a demo straight up and thus push the questions as part of that demo (An approach I would recommend and take). It’s a product whose core focus is an authoring tool (proprietary based), but offers the ability to add users, provides a few analytics and a few reports. How is that different than a demo?
