NexLearn Professional sim tool – They want you to sign a MDNA before seeing the product (In my case they thought I was an e-learning developer. Which if you think about it, who besides a developer or instructional designer purchase this type of product). NexLearn Professional – jeez starting to see a trend here?

The biggest problem facing the industry in the past few years are the lack of course authoring tools for e-learning developers and instructional designers. Offer linear and non-linear design, plus table of contents. Geared towards the masses. A combination of both.

This version ($40/u/m) is geared towards the instructional designer/developer. The product comes in two flavors – a simple and a more robust. I focused on the more robust. Talk about a nice run to the end zone! What I liked about it: Easy to define objects and enable them to have a lot of capabilities.

Buttons, menus and design that makes no sense, to anyone – with placement that is not even remotely logical or user driven. The products are designed for people who have limited to no real technical skills, such as programming skills or writing HTML, javascript, etc. The worst of the offenders. Some of the biggest problems.

NexLearn (Simulation tool) – their uber robust sim version will cost you nearly 13K for one license, their base version (Simplicity) $999. I know of several huge companies – both in employees and in brand name – whose instructional designers are remote (many in other states). EduWiz $1,299.
