Luckily for us, Scott Wilson has written a very helpful post breaking down the components of Google Wave and even whipping up a quick demo of one possible type of integration between Wave and Moodle. Whatever the case, I know some large Moodle clients of mine who will be watching what happens with Wave with significant interest - exciting times ahead! With open source products maturing, Blackboards ongoing lawsuit with Desire2Learn, and more and more functions linked to learning management systems, it can be a tough time for institutions to standardize on an e-learning platform. Campus Technology: In the survey, Gartner found "clear movement in the market" toward more open-source platforms in 2007--26 percent of platforms on surveyed campuses were on open source e-learning system such as Moodle or Sakai, and Gartner projects that number will grow to 35 percent by the end of 2008. This will, of course, only push adoption of Moodle (and possibly Desire2Learn). University of Manitoba, during a recent LMS review, selected Angel as its new learning management system. In talking with faculty and others attending presentations by various LMS vendors, a clear “anything but Blackboard” view was evident. Disdain for Blackboard is higher than for any other company

In 2005 it bought out WebCT and has more recently sued Desire2Learn for copyright violation.
haven’t used Blackboard in two years since I switched to a school that uses Moodle instead. That’s not to imply that Moodle is perfect, but it has some definite advantages over Blackboard.
