Back when I first started developing e-learning courses, I used Macromedia's Authorware. For more interactive elements, I used Flash and imported the SWFs into Authorware. Over the years, I have used ToolBook, Trainersoft, and even Dreamweaver with Coursebuilder. No, I can skip the middle man and produce entire courses in Flash.

Adobe's Developer Connection has added Adobe Cookbooks , [link]. Members can post Adobe code for Flash, Flex, Air, ColdFusion, Dreamweaver, and other Adobe products. At this point the majority of the code shared is ActionScript and Flex code. Anyone interested can browse the cookbooks and no registration required.

Though Microsoft’s Silverlight is coming up, we don’t see it posing a challenge to Adobe’s Flash anytime soon.

At first glance, I have to say that e-Learning Studio provides more bang for the buck (this package comes with Captivate, Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign). I remember one bug in particular with QuizMaker that the developers admit existed but said wouldn't be fixed until the next release.

Minus - A netbook processor is not going to handle the development software I am using (e.g. Flash, Captivate, Dreamweaver, etc.). Also, I would not enjoy developing on a small screen.
