Some of it was pretty dumb – just content or flash cards as learning augmentation – but there were interesting applications. As a side note, the demise of Flash has left us without a good game development environment. Flash is both a development environment and a delivery platform.

Apple missing the small picture

I’ve previously discussed the fight between Apple and Adobe about Flash (e.g. Now, I understand that Apple’s rabidly focused on the customer experience ( I like the usability), and limiting development to content is a way to essentially guarantee a vibrant experience. I get that Flash isn’t efficient.

Making Learning Broadly Available

My short recommendations: Developers need to start thinking about instrumenting everything. Have them collaborate to develop a Z. You could even send your learners out to do a flash mob ;). If they’ve already tried X and Y, we can next recommend Z. Personalization/customization. And then start aggregating this data.

Some accumulated thoughts…

As I think about developing learning, I want to equip learners to be able to regenerate the approach they should be using if they forget some part of it, and can if they have been given a conceptual model as relationships that guide the application to a problem. It does seem like a relatively small thing to let hang up a major play.
