Merger - OutStart & Hot Lava (Mobile Learning)

OutStart has announced a merger with Hot Lava software. OutStart produces an LCMS and development tools (including TrainerSoft, which was renamed OutStart Trainer). It will be interesting to see where this goes. There are many challenges to m-learning.

Free Hot Lava Software

Hot Lava, which was recently acquired by OutStart, is now offering a free version of their m-learning development tool. My guess is that OutStart will be making significant improvements to the software, so why not offer the current version free as a teaser. It is accessible at this link, Hot Lava download-registration.

ToolBook authoring tool - this is the DHTML authoring tool used at my company, but prior to this I used TrainerSoft (now Outstart Trainer), which is my preference.

Low Cost LMS - Help Needed

The development of e-Learning is being done through Captivate, so I do not need a system with authoring capabilities. We have roughly 500 learners and would use the LMS for mainly tracking and registration of ILT courses, communication (possibly through message boards), and posting of class materials.
