Our Takeaways from DevLearn 2011

E-learning Uncovered

This week I attended my first DevLearn, and as hyped as it was in the months prior to the event, it did not disappoint. DevLearn is one of the largest events in the learning industry; according to the conference website, 1,747 people registered for the event. Surprisingly, though, it didn’t feel impersonal to me.

As I was thinking about it I began to remember other Twitter tools like the open source TwitterCamp we used at live events to display the twitter stream. The following year, DevLearn 2009, we were ALL IN with social media. I found an open source app called TwitterCamp to display the tweet stream on big screen monitors.

Last week, I attended DevLearn. Not only was it quite present at DevLearn, but in general, this is one of the new “hot” items in the space. The irony to all this, are the number of vendors who state that their product will work with iOS and specifically with the iPad. I wasn’t disappointed. Here is the reality.

And then, I followed the Twitter stream in the cab on my iPad and it was obvious that he was melting brains. But I was following the tweet stream of attendees (like Aaron Silvers) and they raved about it. However, I had an early preview of some of his ideas which totally blew my mind.
