Get a license to Webex, Elluminate or something similar (perhaps even a free web conferencing tool like DimDim) to provide the capability to run live online sessions. Training providers will have no trouble using Moodle to provide course web sites to support traditional, e or blended solutions.

Synchronous e-learning will continue to grow and open source variants such as dimdim will help bring down the cost. If they're lucky and are given the space to experiment, they'll be confused about what - if anything - they're supposed to do to make it happen. I'm sorry, but nothing startling there.

DimDim , open source web conferencing. Then along came open source and a host of freebie applications, supported by advertising. At the moment I'm either using or considering using all of the following: Moodle , the open source virtual learning environment. Google Docs and Spreadsheets (formerly Writely), for word processing and the suchlike.
