I’ve heard of SNAPP before – &# software tool that allows users to visualize the network of interactions resulting from discussion forum posts and replies&# – but decided to play around with it today. SNAPP does its analysis and posts the results on the bottom of your browser window.

Facebook like page – where people can follow others, create a profile, post on a discussion board or wall or something similar so that others in their “friends&# group can see and respond or post their own comments, includes a profile – upload your image, tell a little about yourself, perhaps add a job title. We have also set up a Google Group for discussions about learning analytics and the conference. Last week, I announced an upcoming conference in Banff on Learning Analytics ( call for papers can be found here). What are Learning Analytics? What does this look like? This data happily sits in a database, waiting for some type of analysis.

recently had a great conversation with Becky Barch, a performance consultant at the Bank, about her smart application of discussion forum software from ElementK. The forum is targeted to a small group – loan/lending assistants. Becky turned around and used a discussion forum to make the situation better. learning.
I'm debating the value of forum / group / threaded discussion software vs. user can do this through posting to a threaded discussion quite easily. Typically they center around threaded discussions. Some thoughts I have about why we might adopt threaded discussions / forum software vs. Options are simple.

Often there are good functionality including announcing events, hold discussions and news announce. Disadvantages: It is limited to one single simultaneously discussion.
While this may be true in some cases, I have found that using forums to create a repository of user generated content is sometimes the best way to meet this need.  . What is a forum? Forums come by many names such as message boards, bulletin boards, online discussion sites, newsgroups, etc.  So how can YOU use a forum?
