It's Back to the Future Day - the day the fictional characters Marty McFly and Dr Emmett Brown arrive from 1985 into 'the future' in the wonderful science fiction movie trilogy Back to the Future. In Back to the Future 2 , Doc brings Marty and his girlfriend Jennifer, into to the future to try to avert a personal disaster. There is no mention of the Internet in the movie.

Since this time, I have learned that I can burn an entire semester of MP4 movies onto one DVD. Many of my students found their home internet connection was too slow to stream the movies, but they could install an MP4 file on their machine and watch it easily. Similarly, it would be possible to bring along TV programmes and movies to fill any voids when all you've got on offer is local TV. In my role as a consultant, it is hard to completely cut yourself off from business-related communication while on holiday, so the ability to receive all my emails and blog feeds was useful, along with access to my Evernote database and Google docs. I didn't mean to get an iPad. I've even written rather cynical posts about it. But one sort of dropped in my lap.Sort of. So now I've got one. I was also able to easily load up my new pics for previewing.

Although we could have provided a “live” training session via a tool like Adobe Connect, the movie worked out even better. In addition to providing our testers with a movie, we also provided them with an Excel spreadsheet that served as a “browser testing plan.” We also watched the Google Docs spreadsheet, looking for possible misunderstandings – either in terms of filling out the spreadsheet incorrectly or misunderstanding how the courses were supposed to function. We recently undertook a rather large browser testing project. We then asked our contractors for referrals.

In reality, most of us are superheroes in our own right, albeit in a less glamorous way (which is good since a blue spandex leotard and cape is a hard look to pull off). .
