The moment I saw how many of my contemporaries were using Dreamweaver Templates to build courses, I knew the end for the complex tools were coming. Output was AICC (boo) and SCORM. Template heavy.

Instead, it was someone from Macromedia Dreamweaver, which is software for building websites. The person who saw the template potentially hit it out of the park. Not Articulate.

Other fun tidbits AICC was the leader here, then came SCORM. The first inkling of RCATs was a product called Dreamweaver, which was designed for web site design. Dreamweaver then added templates, allowing folks to create courses. Dreamweaver eventually got acquired. It was challenging to learn, but a great product.

They took a premise of strong course design that allows interactivity and engagement, with knowledge of ADDIE or at least some basic ID understanding, and flipped it into a PPT template so that you can create quickly your courses and get them online. Then Dreamweaver, a tool for designing web sites, rolled out templates for course building.
