Learning On Tablets At Emirates Airlines

Upside Learning

It can be quite hard to find examples of tablets being leveraged for performance and learning in the public domain. Most companies are quite cagey about how they are using tablets and related technology for learning; to be honest, I don’t see why, but that is another matter altogether. Quite interesting to see an actual EPSS that works on a tablet. The rollout involves about 1000 devices.

Trade Show Circuit 2013

eLearning 24-7

In just one month, the e-learning trade show season will be upon us.  While at one time there was little reason to be concerned, those days are way over. Too many e-learning shows. I’m not just talking about here in the states, but on earth (not sure about Mars, though). As a result, many of us (including myself) need to assess and weigh our options. Do we hit two sh0ws? Do we travel to Dubai or visit Denver? Vendors are assessing as well. How many shows and more importantly, which expos are the right ones to show at?  . ASTD TechKnowledge. #25 to #11 LMSs of 2012

eLearning 24-7

It is the holiday season and for those who see me as the grinch (okay a few vendors do, but I digress) here is a special post.  Next week, 12-12-12, will be #10 to #1 learning management systems for 2012. This week:  #25 to #11 (cheering and booing is allowed, but please keep it to yourself). Drum Roll please. #25 Mindflash.com. They are a next gen of lite LMSs (feel free my post “When is a LMS, Not a LMS”). They were once in my top five a year ago, but no more. While their UI is very user friendly, they really haven’t done much in terms of new cool features in 2012.

Learning Lessons from Black Ops 2

Integrated Learnings

by Jonathan Shoaf. As a boy growing up in a neighborhood full of kids, I understood the importance of a challenge. challenge is where you put all your skills to use to beat an opponent. The challenge pushes you beyond your current skill level. It is something to prepare for and something to learn from. In my days the challenges involved things like throwing rocks, wrestling, and bicycle racing. started to think about how I learn in the game. quickly realized that there are many similarities between learning to excel at a multiplayer video game and learning to excel on the job.

Future Perfect

Learning and Working on the Web

What is a “peer progressive”? Steven Johnson, in Future Perfect , describes a person who is neither right-wing nor left-wing, ignoring the labels of 20th century politics, and one who embraces the power of networks for the betterment of society. When a need arises in society that goes unmet, our first impulse should be to build a peer network to solve that problem. Books

Bringing Design Inspiration to Everyday Work

I have to start by saying that I typically don''t make New Year resolutions; when I see something that I want to change, I go ahead and do it. But this week, while traveling, I did something that I often do while away but rarely do at home: I went to a design exhibit. In this case, the subject was Norman Bel Geddes, the great mid-century designer/architect/futurist.
