If Clark says the time is now, it probably is. In fact it probably has been since the first iPhone was launched and certainly once we got the iPad. Before that, the very idea of mobile learning was a bit bizarre. In some respects m-learning is no big deal, because mobile devices are already ubiquitous and essential performance aids. Clearly, you want to align your investments appropriately to situations you face. If you look across the literature on expertise, and the recent writing on how our brains work (c.f. Kahneman’s Thinking Fast and Slow ), you see an emerging picture of expertise. Starting with the types of problems, there are more than just the problems we know and the ones we don’t.
