Social Media Libraries for Flash

Upside Learning

As social technology growth continues to march on and dynamic learning grows to be the need of the day, it is little surprise that social media has now become an integral part of learning as well. Various elearning development companies are integrating the popular social media services like Twitter, YouTube etc. right into their courses and LMS. A couple of months back, the Adobe Captivate blog demonstrated a twitter widget that can be integrated within a Captivate Flash output to send a tweet (

The LMS and SNS – A Fine Balance

Upside Learning

That the LMS needs to incorporate social learning elements is no longer a point of debate but both a question of survival for the LMS itself and also a test of how the LMS handles the balance of both the elements of training and the ‘networkedness’ of the social learning. We’ve been hearing of experts commenting that LMSs today don’t come with appropriate social media technology built in.

Our topics rotate between learning theory refreshers and step-by-step techniques for popular eLearning authoring tools (Lectora, Captivate, Articulate, and others). Our one rule is that the topics have to relate to eLearning.

eLearning and accessibility

Moodle Journal

If you are reading this blog, then the chances are that you also actively produce eLearning content. Given that we certainly need to avoid the pitfalls of just dropping standard class handouts onto the vle and thinking that's fine; chances are if they are not read in class, they will not be reading these on-line, at least that's my experience. That said there is the whole area, and I am not sure upon reflection that I give it the attention it deserves of accessibility.

Why E-Learning is So Effective

Rapid eLearning

E-learning is hot. And for good reason. If done right, it can produce great results by decreasing costs and improving performance. Also, unlike a one time classroom session, the elearning course is available for others. This includes the static elearning course as well as any ongoing conversations in networked communities. Recently, I had a conversation with someone new to elearning and it struck me that she didn’t fully understand the value of elearning.

Instruction in a Information Snacking Culture?

The Learning Circuits

There's a trend that seems to be ongoing, but I'm noticing it even more recently. People seem to be spending less time going through information in depth and less willing to spend time on information. We seem to be snacking on information, not consuming it in big chunks. And it's been something I've been really wondering about on all kinds of levels.
