Yes, it’s quick bits, but they don’t mean as much on their own as in their cumulative effect over time. Whereas the cumulative effect of the event model dissipates quickly, the distributed model builds slowly! I think of this as embedded learning versus event learning. Some elliptical material.

Last week on the #chat2lrn twitter chat, the topic was microlearning. It’s distributed learning, but the overall learning experience is macro (and much more effective than the massed, event, model). Another interpretation was little bits of components of learning (examples, practice) delivered over time. This is hard work.

It would also, when in range of WiFi, do standard web stuff like browse the web and use Twitter. Given that I already have an iPhone, which would meet immediate email, twitter, and/or web needs when not in WiFi range, I figured I could go with the first one coming out. And the answer is, very very well. The display is superb.
