The Accidental Instructional Designer: A Learning Solutions Workshop!

Learning Visions

On March 19, I'll be leading a one day workshop in Orlando as part of the pre-conference program for the eLearning Guild's 2012 Learning Solutions conference. From the workshop description: Most of us working as instructional designers got here by accident, by showing an aptitude for training or expertise in a particular subject matter area. And now, here you are, responsible – in some way – for the design, development, and/or delivery of eLearning. This workshop will help answer some questions: What does eLearning look like today? Mastering the Art of Storyboarding for Elearning

Storyboarding an elearning project comes in many forms and processes and is ultimately dictated by the project itself. Visually representing how an elearning project will flow and behave is difficult to convey in a storyboard written in MS Word or PowerPoint. Assuming all the front-end work has been accomplished and it was decided an elearning project is the solution.  Me, too!

Think Multiscreen (vs. iPad-only) when developing an mLearning Strategy

One thing I stress in my mLearning workshops is the fact that having an iPad-only strategy for Learning is not a thorough mLearning Strategy. The Mobile Design Workshop!

Clark Quinn

That’s why I’m pleased that I have the chance to offer a mobile design workshop at the eLearning Guild’s mobile learning conference, mLearnCon. Mobile is coming at us hard and fast.  Announcements of changes in the marketplace (HP acquiring Palm in just the past week), and new devices (Google passing on the Nexus One to tout the next gen system), are coming fast and furious. The devices are out there (mobile is outselling the desktop) and the workforce is increasingly mobile (72%, according to IDC!).

xAPI Camp – DevLearn 2015 is ONE DAY AWAY

The first xAPI Camp at DevLearn, the first of four events we’re putting on hosted by The eLearning Guild , is nigh upon us. The Guild helped us launch xAPI at mLearnCon back in 2012 and they have been a steadfast supporter of xAPI. The eLearning Guild is a terrific host and partner in making xAPI Camp available to attendees as a pre-conference event. With the Guild, we at MakingBetter have three other partners we’re super happy to work with. You’ll find Megan Torrance at her own workshop on Tuesday, sneaking in to speak with us.
