The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a great open online learning site, CDC Learning Connection , also added it to the Free eLearning page. I saw a presentation on a mobile health application called EMocha. CDC has a goal of developing a central data store for public health training in which LMSes can go.

After all, PowerPoint does not bore people to death, presenters (or e-Learning designers) WITH PowerPoint do. In a nutshell, it is a presentation that contains 20 images each displayed for 20 seconds (20x20). It was originally designed to reign in presenters who needed to be more concise in their presentation.

In these layers I added text that emphasized key information in their presentation. I was very careful not to distract the learner away from the presenter, but rather highlight their message. It is also important not to obscure the presenter. Where graphics, charts, and screenshots helped, I add those too.

Bottom line, they are presented with a realistic video depicting a scenario where they must make a choice and then shown the results of their choice. They make an important point in the article that ".soldiers soldiers relate more to human characters than virtual avatars." Not a terribly complex design, but probably effective.

Articulate - Presenter and Quizmaker are providing the assessment and an ease of packaging it as a SCORM compliant course. In this case I will take my Flash course and import the SWF to the first page of Articulate Presenter. The ability to have a Flash button, or menu, work within Presenter was the kicker.
