Skillsoft Acquires Element K for $110 Million

The business of eLearning in corporate training continues to shift.  You may have already heard this news, so I won't bother you with the details.  You can read the full press release here.  I'm just pointing it out as a "heads up" that the eLearning industry is alive and well and corporate training departments need to continue to stay up to date on the latest moves within our industry.
"The acquisition adds to SkillSoft's existing offerings in learning content and learning platform technology through the addition of Element K's complementary offerings in e-learning content, virtual labs, ILT print materials and custom development services."
The Learning Solutions Conference and Expo had a 50% growth or vendors in the expo which tells me our business is alive and well.  What we do as corporate training professionals will only continue to be needed in the coming years.  But it's also important to keep your skills up.  Don't rest on your old skills.  Yes, you are needed.  But the world is changing and you need to step up your game.

Check out the media tools report for more information on the tools of our industry.

FYI...
SkillSoft (owned by Bain Capital Partners LLC) is killing all the ElementK products and slowly firing all its employees. Their only interest is harvesting ElementK's customers and killing the competitor.
