This is a story about a one-time giant in the 3rd party off-the-shelf content providers. If the buy content you get Skillsoft system sounds familiar you are correct, because the same approach was taken with Skillport, an LMS from Skillsoft, which was really a stripped down version of the old Element K system back in the day.

You can find free content all over the internet and you can purchase 3rd party content from a content provider. And not only do they provide the “course marketplace or content marketplace”, but they are adding content for free, to when you buy the LMS or other type of learning system. History. Probably just three years ago, if you said Element K I would have immediately thought about off-the-shelf courseware. However, Element K has made substantial, progressive improvements to their LMS, most recently by building custom integrations between Jive Clearspace and KnowledgeHub, Element K’s LMS.
