Unfortunately, this was a 3-hour meeting with a string of PowerPoint presentations. A PowerPoint presentation will work just as well with WebEx (or just a recording). We decided to mute, similar to what we would do with a big group in a web conferencing tool like WebEx or Elluminate. This is best when it’s interactive.

Elluminate has real-time captioning available (I’ve never seen anyone use this in a presentation before–very nicely done. It’s not just whether it’s possible, but how usable it is.

Dimdim delivers synchronized live presentations, whiteboards and web pages while sharing your voice and video over the Internet - with no download. I have used www.dimdim.com before and Elluminate (but this is not open source.) Elluminate is a really nice tool but not open source. Big Blue Button is my favorite at the moment!
