I was inclined to think that though the amount of information available to me might be increasing, the net effect was ultimately just a shallower understanding of things, with no real expertise. By providing them with a pathway to the information they need, we don’t need to hope they’ll remember it.

ADDIE’s linear perspective provides a structured step-by step instructional design process. It allows the stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end users to provide early feedback. Much of the current hostile reaction to ADDIE is based on the old waterfall-linear approach and the assumed “instructivist” nature of the model.

By bringing her issue to the rouge #lrnchat she was able to find several instructional designers, including myself, willing spend a little time that day reviewing her material and providing feedback. I found it very satisfying to provide that assistance and participate in a group that is so willing to share their expertise.
