When I want to know something, the first places I’ll look are Google, Wikipedia and YouTube. Workers of the world unite – it must be time for another Luddite revolution!’. Learning resources can include things like web articles.

We supplement this with Google Docs for collaborative document creation, have started using Prezi for storyboarding complex branching scenarios and Mindmeister for top level instructional design. People in my wider network usually contact me by phone, Twitter or LinkedIn but not Facebook – I keep that for personal use.

I might, for example, seek the answer to a question via a Google or YouTube search, Twitter or by tapping into my online networks. It’s easy to see how informal learning can just be a green light for employees to chat to their friends on Facebook all day. Increasingly, technology also comes into the equation.
