Social Media Policy?

So what’s your social media policy?  It’s not something you should do lightly, or haphazardly, it seems to me. Facebook, is for me, the place I be me. If I don’t connect to you there, it’s not a reflection of you, it’s that I just don’t know you well enough to connect.  I can see a B2C company using Facebook, but that’s not me, so it’s not a biz place. Other social media tools I use for specific things include Yammer, Skype, and of course dedicated tools like Google Docs of various sorts, Doodle, and more.

Yammer has been quite a success at my workplace. Every so often I’m asked by a peer at another company what they can do to increase the use of Yammer in their own organisation. I’m happy to share my opinion with them (borne from my experience), but thus far I have been cognisant of the fact that I haven’t cross-checked my ideas against those of others in the corporate sector. So I recently invited 14 community managers from around the world to rate the key factors that drive Yammer use in their respective organisations. They must lead by example.
