Second, on November 4th (tomorrow), the behind-the-firewall release of Second Life will go public. Rumor has it that pricing for the behind the firewall Second Life Enterprise starts at $55,000 and that it will be handled by a value-added network of service providers (see more below.) The platform is great for easy firewall access. A Spanish company called Virtway which released a virtual world platform for the iPhone and ipad. Avaya’s Web.Alive had a large presences recently at a large K-12 trade show and in a presentation during a break out session they had standing room only. They are here to stay.

Many need to keep their content within their firewalls. As you develop your course, you may be interested to see what it looks like on an Android and an iPhone as well as a tablet. Also, if your course has limited bandwidth, you can use videos stored on YouTube. This is helpful for some but not for institutions. Live Preview.

I will say that sometimes companies get it a bit wrong when it comes to leveraging existing sites to create value that extends beyond the firewall. One last note – podcast implies that you have a set of people who have access to iPods / iPhones and time to listen. Similarly having content that flows outside to partners, customers, etc.

With the enterprise, within the firewall, anonymity isn’t there. Add complexity down the line – people fall in love with the iPhone, Gmail, etc. Stop obsessing about the risks. People are hardwired (in general) to not be nasty to each other). Trolls are popular on internet because anonymity is possible. Lower the barriers to altruism.

Im ready for the iPhone. Hey Mark, Would love to hear more about how youre using Yammer within the firewall as well as those IJAs youre creating with Articulate. My iPod Touch I know that this is a piece of hardware, but it makes learning and recording information on the fly a breeze, at least when theres wireless around.
