Social media for trainers – a review

Clive on Learning

As I have been travelling east and west across the UK this week, I’ve been taking a look at Jane Bozarth’s Social Media for Trainers on my Kindle. Social media for trainers isn’t really aimed at people like me, even though I’m seriously engaged with social media and, at least some of the time, I qualify as being a trainer. reviews social media

Social Media for Trainers: Filled with Great Ideas and Techniques

Kapp Notes

Social Media for Trainers is a great book for understanding the ways to leverage social media to extend training beyond the traditional four walls. She starts with a basic description of social media and then covers all the biggies, Twitter, Facebook(online communities), Blogs, and wikis. Instead she continues to describe other tools from Google (Wave and Docs), YouTube, TeacherTube and a half a dozen others. Additionally, the ideas behind using Wave presented by Jane are applicable for other collaborative tools. Web 2.0

Buzz without the munchies

Janet Clarey

So I sit down at my desk this morning, opened up Gmail as I always do and noticed Google Buzz. I read like 61 trillion tweets about Google Buzz over the past few days so, of course, I was fatigued with it to begin with. I was expecting someone to say at breakfast, &# hey, did you try Google Buzz…what’s that about?&# (no one would ever say that to me at breakfast though… make me eggs! However, being a student of the social web, I jumped right in. I dunno because I’ve already forgotten Google Wave.) How is this different? (I

I think the growing popularity of social media apps on mobile devices will assist with a growth of social learning (I consider social/informal learning on mobile devices m-learning too). Google Wave will be released as a much less cumbersome application than the current beta version, but will struggle with adoption by general public. This will include better search functions, a mobile app that actually works (yes, I went there), and a TweetChat style app (increasing its ability to function as a social learning tool).
