Equally of interest, are the increase in open source systems that offer for a fee, hosting on their own servers, rather than on yours. Oh, they offer SaaS for a fee, but you can host it on your own servers for free. Prediction.

Hosted in the cloud? In the 15 plus years I have been involved in e-learning, I am unaware of one hosted in the cloud LMS that has been hacked into. An ERP which is hosted on yours servers is a very complex project. Committee members who will slow down the process. Whatever the product you are including that has tech in it. .

The bottom line without getting technical or overly detailed, the solution is hosted on your vendor’s servers and not hosted on your internal servers. Hosting does offer very tight and safe security, and access is via the internet, even if you go through your VPN (Virtual Private Network ).

One feature that I believe is important is the ability for folks who sign-up/register for an event, and it appears in their own G-Mail, Outlook, or whatever service their e-mail is hosted on.
