Not Working harder

Yet, this is critical to coming up with new ideas! I’ll suggest that turning the ideas into models , connected causal stories, helps. With this prep, I can put together ideas quickly. I even do household chores as a way to allow time to think. Basically, it looks like I’m spending a lot of time not working.

We want to diverge and converge, exploring ideas broadly before evaluating them. And we need individuals to think on their own before sharing those ideas. . You want to minimize investment in making ideas concrete early on, so that you’ve less sunk costs to fret over. And you want to use the lowest fidelity prototype you can.

The ‘late adopter’ strategy

I still tend to get opportunities to innovate around ideas of application after they’re established, because, well, that’s what I do ;). Affordances help, as does lateral thinking and having on tap lots of mental models to spark ideas. I might then be late to a platform, but that’s OK.
