I thought about this, as you can tell, and said to myself, okay, let’s write a post where the e-learning history and thus learning systems, authoring tools, and alike are intertwined with good and bad ideas. LMS Committees – Good idea? Or painful experience?

Lisa could be an important team member, much more so than the VP of HR, who often mucks it up – because they have zero idea on what it is or why it is needed, but has an ego complex and G-D forbid you leave them out. A LMS committee can be a good idea when the right people are involved and the right path is taken. Bottom Line.

This NDA thing isn’t new to the industry, but even years ago, I wrote how awful an idea this is. A few vendors support the higher fee, and then say, we need to sit down and get a better idea around your use cases (which the buyer has already send them), and the buyer already has seen a demo. You are looking to buy a car.

COPs – aka communities of practice were a novel idea in the early 2000’s for online learning, first seen with WLAN or LAN networks. When did employees and customers for learning/training become irrelevant?

Thus, all employees receive the compliance part (worst idea ever. Heck, there are companies where Marketing oversees external training (another horrible idea, more later). I have no idea what I am supposed to do because, fortunately, I still have my job, which is specific to overseeing/running HRIS. Why even buy a system, then?
