It has worked well for me, but a character chart, what a great idea. While exploring how others develop characters, I stumbled upon character charts, a tool used by some fiction writers. In the past, I have developed characters in elearning more off the cuff. I searched for an "eLearning Character Chart" but without success.

Estimating Course Completion Time

Bad idea, whether the course is a simple page-turner or not. Now I know a seasoned e-learning designer can get a "pretty good" idea of how long it will take to complete a course, especially if they know their audience well. We often see estimated completion times in the introduction of e-learning courses.
