And I guess I felt I had the use of forums just about nailed, when recently one of the class suggested that I set up a forum for use purely as an FAQ that could be posted to and answered by myself or other class members, great idea, and it is proving useful to such an extent that I now have an FAQ forum on all my courses.

I was talking to one of my colleagues recently who, with some enthusiasm has embraced the idea of eLearning to such an extent that all of his students now arrive at class not with a notebook and pen, but a wireless enabled laptop! With our decision to merge the Moodle system for the two Colleges ready for September 2011 start, it seemed a good idea to at least have a small trial of course of course transfers just see if any issues emerged. Interestingly it seems that a lot of failures flagged up surrounding issues with the quiz module.

Apart from the advice on content, I started out by setting up a new forum for them in Moodle, which they liked the idea of, and I asked if they had any preferences for a name, they came up with Cmaritans, good one. We met today not because we had a class, but because they wanted advice in how to establish a self-group, brilliant I thought.
