A common hit on eLearning is that it does not have the benefits gained through face to face interaction and collaboration with others that ILT can provide. Project based lessons are definitely something I can take back to work as they work well as part of a blended training approach including both instructor led and eLearning solutions.

The project involves training approximately 180 users on a ERP software program in a chain of retail stores. The overall plan consists of a blend of training solutions including eLearning , Instructor Led Training, and Job Aids. The ILT classes will conclude by introducing the learners to a job aid in the form of a Wiki.

The company I work for has a tight grip on the training budget this year and if I want to make eLearning a priority in future budgets I need to make the ROI on eLearning obvious. As you may have seen in the previous post, I am attempting to do this by replacing some content that is currently delivered through instructor led training.

The first project is to revamp our current “Manager Training Program” aka “MTP” certification course. Prior to becoming a manager we require that the employee is certified through the Management Training Program which is currently a 5 day, 100% instructor led course. Now comes the hard part!
