We’re very pleased to announce the release of Content Controller v3.3, which adds two new ways to share your content, and two new ways to access your data.

Share LTI resources with Deep Linking

Content Controller’s LTI support lets you share your content with LMSs that support IMS standards — typically, those used in Higher Education. But prior to Content Controller v3.3, you would have to send links for all of your courses to your customers, and then their instructors would have to manually configure a resource link for each piece of content that they wanted to use in their courses. At worst, that could mean copying and pasting dozens or hundreds of URLs. Now there’s a better way.

In Content Controller v3.3, we’ve implemented LTI Deep Linking, which gives instructors access to all the content that’s been added to their Content Controller account, right from their LMS. This allows instructors to select whichever courses they prefer, and Content Controller will share those courses with their platform automatically.

Content Controller v3.3 has passed the 1EdTech, formerly called IMS Global, testing as a certified LTI Deep Linking 2.0 Tool Provider. You can find all of our certifications on their product directory.

Export content as cmi5

One of Content Controller’s strengths is its ability to act as a “universal translator” for eLearning standards. Author your content using the standard that works best for you (or as a video or PDF), and share it with your customers using the standard that works best for them. Now cmi5 joins SCORM, AICC, and LTI as one of the standards you can use to share your content with LMSs.

Get reporting data from the API

Content Controller’s Learner History, Registration History, and Interaction History reports contain virtually all the results information that learners generate while engaging with your content. In addition to the CSV downloads long available from the Content Controller UI, these reports are now available from the API in either CSV or JSON format. That means that what was once a manual process of exporting CSVs and then importing them into your data processing system of choice can now be automated, saving time and preventing mistakes.

Another improvement to our reports is the addition of custom metadata. Whether you’re trying to better understand your content or accounts in Content Controller, you can now add custom information in your report summaries. This makes finding and working with data easier all around.

Understand your user counts

Content Controller’s learner count feature has also been updated in v3.3. Now when you check how many learners have launched your content, you’ll see a month-by-month, account-by-account breakdown along with the total. That way you can spot trends and better forecast your Content Controller usage. You can even download the data as a CSV for more advanced number crunching.
