Images processed 60K faster? No! And moreā€¦

Recently, I’ve run into the claim that images are processed 60K times faster than text. Just search on “images processed 60K times faster than text” You’ll get lots of citations, and a few debunkings. Second, images need parsing, too, and contextualization between the image and the current semantics.

NASA Images was just launched ( press release ) and it uses software that was partly developed by my firm TechEmpower. It has a bunch of neat features that makes it fun to play with, especially the ability to create different kinds of widgets of groups and images and workspaces.

This will be the videos, audios, text, diagrams, images, and more that comprise the experience. I stumbled across the Elements of UX diagram again, and happened to wonder if it would map to LXD.

There was also a citation of the unjustified claim that images are processed 60K times better than text, yet the source of that claim hasn’t been found ! What we want is an impartial evaluation. This simply couldn’t be it. Not least, the author was the CEO of the platform. It got worse.

I finally started paying so they didn’t show gross ads (you can now signup safely; they lie when they say the have ‘brand-safe’ ads), and fortunately my mail removes images (for safety, unless I ask), so I don’t see them. I’m also continuing to explore Mastodon (@quinnovator@sfba.social).

Updates on my books

The covers have changed, of course, since I don’t know as to rights for the images used. You could get two of the expired books as ebooks, but now Amazon also has a paperback option. I’ve been able to put all three up as both!
