Indeed, that is confirming my suspicion. I have usedaAnimated GIF’s created in PS quite a lot in Captivate, but detected that the most recent versions don’t allow a lot of workflows. Using masks for animation will not result in a GIF that will play in Captivate.
The most engaging experience would be like the one in pdf: being able in Captivate to move the 3D object. I don’t see an animated GIF really as an alternative.

You’re right that it would be nice to have more 3D functionality in Captivate. I have been successful in using masks inside of Adobe Animate and importing the OAM file. Again, not true 3D. I find sometimes simulated 3D or 2.5D can fill a need.

Thanks Phil. Photoshop was my first (Adobe) love after PhotoStyler was killed by… I have been playing with 3D objects a lot. They can be inserted and used perfectly in a pdf since quite a while. Did you ever use them in Captivate? Maybe I miss something but I thought it was not possible, it is one of my feature requests since years (after it appeared in Acrobat).

Hi Lieve. The only way I can get this 3D image into Captivate is to export the PSD to a format that Captivate can import. I typically choose PNG. If you want animation, you could create an animated GIF in Photoshop and bring that GIF into Captivate.

I agree Lieve. That’s why I link to pdf files from Captivate so as to have access to the 3d viewer in PDF. Now what the brains at Adobe need to do is to come up with some way to place a similar player in Captivate to allow for learner engagement. That would be really useful. I like Phil have used oam.
