I havent signed up anywhere, I havent taken part in any of the sessions, but Im like a moth drawn to the flame: as I peer in on all the conversation beginning to happen, I cant help but join in. The best self-paced eLearning does this well, providing scenario-based learning and demos with plenty of opportunity for reflection and practice.

This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. Within higher ed, Im sure well continue to see growth in online, but it is starting to plateau a bit. 10 years ago I cut my elearning teeth in the K12 market, working on projects for two big US providers.

Im concerned that women will be excluded if such a focus is put on gaming skills -- or at least the gamer label. Dona was an early Atari employee (and the only woman at the time) and spoke about women in the gaming industry and provided some specific ideas for getting girls and women more involved in games and gaming.

For me this is is one of the key failings of traditional elearning content: fitting your learning need to pre-existing templates, whether thats SME built rapid content or something produced by an elearning provider.
