| Page 1 of 7 | Previous | Next | WONDERFUL BRAIN NOVEMBER 21, 2011 KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IS A SIMPLE PROCESS ONCE THE RHETORIC IS REMOVED The benefits of knowledge management (KM) are a monster value-add to any organization. How could such a straightforward process for transferring information and learning become bogged down in dense MBA rhetoric taking what is essentially a simple idea and obfuscating it in layers of process and jargon? Flash History of Knowledge Management. Then each would become a teacher and spread knowledge throughout the empire. What is Knowledge Management. When we externalize it by communicating with others, our knowledge is made explicit. | IGNATIA WEBS FEBRUARY 6, 2013 #Informal learning and the master deck of the guru He simply has the gift to come up with simple, yet essential knowledge insights that lift me up time after time. Yesterday he shared his 'master deck on informal learning'. It is a treasure of key ideas and at the same time such a great personal time saver, as well as a knowledge/management tailoring device. For those interested in informal learning, I gladly share the informal master deck of Jay Cross here: Jay's informal learning research deck from Jay Cross. eLearning presentation knowledge management informal learning | | | | | | | THE LEARNING GENERALIST JANUARY 25, 2010 Here's how I'm approaching Personal Knowledge Management A few months back, Harold Jarche wrote a very interesting article about sense making with Personal Knowledge Management (PKM). Harold suggested a model that he uses to manage his personal knowledge and stay on top of his social media intake. I'd rather have all the information collected for me in advance, so I can get to processing it thereafter. | TONY KARRER JUNE 15, 2007 Emergent Knowledge Management There's been a long running discussion around what Knowledge Management is going to look like going forward and whether big systems that manage knowledge are going to be there. This vision aligns well with what I see happening in eLearning - Direction of eLearning - Emergence or Big System Tacit workers will use their PWLE to work and learn and it will be up to us to figure out how to aggregate and provide structure to leverage this information into valuable content for others in the organization. For example, see Bill Ives' recent post , and Paula Thorton. | IGNATIA WEBS NOVEMBER 15, 2012 Harold Jarche on the need for #corporate #networking and learning During the Learning Day at the European Environmental Agency (EEA), an organisation filled with knowledge workers, I had the pleasure of hearing a keynote of Harold Jarche ( @hjarche and www.jarche.com ). An interesting central idea is the fact that all knowledge workers need to have time to do nothing, simply relax, get their heads into an open, wandering, creative state. research. | IGNATIA WEBS AUGUST 8, 2011 Are you a #knowledge management expert? THE LEARNING GENERALIST | MONDAY, MARCH 21, 2011 Knowledge Management in the age of Social Media While our platform itself places no restrictions on where users can post content and while we have a really powerful search engine, the mental model of folders to place your information is still prevalent. Coming back to our social business platform though, the primary driver for this initiative was to answer a long standing knowledge management challenge at ThoughtWorks. How does the traditional world view of knowledge management fit in the world of social business? Managing digital knowledge that matters to you, requires deliberate practice. THE LEARNING GENERALIST | FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2010 Collaboration 2.0 - There's a Shift happening Managers are starting to think differently, staff definitely has a mind of their own and are more empowered each day and the focus on collaboration is much more than we saw even 3-4 years back. From Single Source to Crowd Sourced There was a time when we believed in single sources of good information. People believed these authentic sources of information because the people that created information were hugely qualified and apparently quite talented in their field. Apparently that was for ' information security' ! learning communication knowledge management MORE >> -

But nice to see the examples of various uses of Yammer and how it has opened up knowledge in organisations and made it accessible, through the use of a social approach.
