They are often knowledge-focused and, as a result, serve only to overwhelm the learner with new information, without placing this in context. These resources can take many forms: Experts that we can call upon for information.

Rather than having a learning intervention pushed at them, they 'pull' what they need, typically by finding an appropriate resource. There's no need for the resource to attempt to stimulate emotional engagement, because the job's done. That means the resource can be simple and to the point, the more so the better.

Bundle resources and you may not need courses

More and more I am being asked by clients to help them assemble a collection of resources to support some new business initiative. Not 'courses' - although they may also provide some of these - but 'resources'. These resources can take various forms: Web articles, written in an engaging, journalistic manner, rather like blogs.
