Zite will show you information based on keywords you give in. It also gives me a constant feed of information (again through Flipboard). Communities. Conferences.

You can have longer messages than Twitter and include files and links. A tool that could support you in this is Yammer.

A great way to present this mass of information to you in a whole new way. The 'paper' metaphor of Flipboard. It works brilliant, especially for blogs and tweets.
