love this article because it defends the tools and attacks the design. Sure, you can have a great eLearning design doc, great objectives and some cool interactions and simulations, but if it looks unprofessional or amateurish, then you have some usability issues to overcome. Now, there are lots of folks who may disagree with me, but out of the box templates, buttons, ready made flash "interactions" all fall short of what a professional graphic designer can create. Job descriptions in ID (or, ISD) these days are all over the map, with very little consistency. So don't get offended, but please do share your suggestions and feedback! Instructional Designer Capable of performing or at least managing entire ADDIE process. Primarily responsible for translating raw content into instructional content. It doesn't help that few HR and Recruiters have any knowledge of, or experience with, the field. So I'm going to propose some roles as I understand them, in the hopes that some day hiring managers will be able to articulate

So i have been working on an e-Learning Methodology Toolkit – basically a set of documents and templates that will help my team structure the way they work – improving the overall analysis, design and deliverables we produce ! Not to mention reduce our timeframes for development !!

The storyboard I use is a very simple, but flexible format that we used in my school’s ISD program. Here is the template , which is made in PowerPoint, but could easily be made in MS Word too.

When using a rapid e-Learning authoring tools that runs off PowerPoint I always start with a template that uses master slides. (or Templates – You can create a bunch of master slides and then save it as a template.That allows you to chose from many different layouts with just one click. (see Page Design – Create a different layout for each type of learning interaction. Master slides in PowerPoint are very powerful and they are easier than ever to do with PPT 07. or I build one to use throughout the course.)
